New York Fashion Week

Our new Beginner Hairdressing students will be posting a blog post here every week for the next few months so we can get to know them a bit better! This week we hear from Esther Hillerman who has joined us from the US. Thanks for this great post Esther!!

New York Fashion Week by Esther Hillerman:

Summer days are dwindling, and for those who love to cosy up in their warm layers, this year’s fall trends are being revealed just in time for your next impulse buy.   Lie Sangbong addicted his audience with wonderfully structured trousers, and beautifully draped tops.  Alexander Wang shocked viewers in a church setting in a disconnected rampage of punk rock with models stomping down the runway.   But most prevalent to me was Nicholas K with rich infusions of leather, crushed velvet, and silks mashed together in gorgeous dreary tones creating this pseudo androgynous Ninja turned hit man.  Leather caps topped the majority of the models with hair swept into a noose-like chinstrap fastened by a solemn bun with an Asian hair fork on the side just to dumbfound the audience with how he made it work in such a stunning way.   Poisonously dark lips popped out against the whitened subdued faces.  Utilitarian bum bags, vests and arm pieces were of choice as to not weigh you down in the effeminate world of handbags and give another layer to a seemingly endless stratum.  Fashion can make you feel sweet and demure as in the looks of Brook Bros in a 40s inspired working woman keeping up with the boys with wispy hair swept back, or ready to storm the streets and take on the Capital as featured in the looks of Nicholas K.  Sneak peaks are online at www.fashionweekonline.com so you can keep the pace on the catwalk of life.
