As you know Barcelona Hair Academy is a space where the creative people from all over the world can come together to learn and to share their knowledge and experience with like-minded professionals. Stephanie Falk and Javier Martin started the ball rolling with the Easy Elegance and Art of Barbering courses, and now it is time to present some more superstars from the world of hairdressing: Jeff Ginsburgh and Kim Martin.
Jeff and Kim will be coming this summer to give an amazing 2 day advanced hairdressing course in which they will define decades, icons and the history of hairdressing in a way nobody has done before. Throughout history, our look has been part of our language; fashion has been the key component of our identities, the surface decoration of the human body that expresses the ideologies that lie beneath. These looks have subscribed us to varying cultural “tribes”; from greaser to grunge, punk to pin-up, subculture has been easily recognizable and defined by the clothes worn and the complimentary haircuts that topped them.
Nowadays we are presented with thousands of options to choose from, so who are our cultural icons today? With the Internet, this generation can create their own fashion landscape, mixing street cultures into cross genre amalgamations, far removed from the ideals they once stood for. Vivienne Westwood perfected punk, Marc Jacobs glamourized grunge, and John Paul Gautier brought the club to the catwalk.
In this fun and intuitive hairdressing course we will look back at the hairstyles that defined generations and unified “tribes”. You will learn the true significance of identifying style in a creative way and this will give you the tools to forecast and predict upcoming trends and turn these ideas into wearable haircuts that could be seen on the streets of London, Paris or New York. We have developed a course which will motivate your and show you how to apply your newly acquired knowledge to salon work.
This course is divided into 2 days. On the first day we will be talking about cuts: iconic styles and movements, and on the second you will learn about colour as a complimentary wearable statement; both days will include demonstrations and workshops lead by Jeff Ginsburgh and Kim Martin.
Jeff, an award winning international stylist, comes from London and has over 25 years experience in the hair industry, working for companies like Toni&Guy, L’Oreal and Kevin Murphy. He has worked in TV and for magazines like Vogue Japan, Grazia and Elle, as well on catwalks shows for Vivienne Westwood and Tommy Hilfiger.
Kim Martin was International Creative Director for Colour at Toni&Guy for many years and she is responsible for putting the technique into colour. As the go to colourist for most model agencies in London, her editorial work has appeared in publications such as English Vogue, Marie Claire and Dazed & Confused. She worked on Prada’s Mui Mui label’s first collection launch and with photographers such as Steven Klein, Rankin, Corinne Day and David Sims.
Do not miss out on the chance to learn from these two giants of the hairdressing world. The dates for this advanced hairdressing course are the 12th and 13th of July so don’t hesitate to contact us. This is a unique opportunity, so make the most of it!
